The Friedman lab uses alcohol self-administration in non-human primates to study the effects of alcohol on the brain.  Brains are studied using both in vivo (PET, MRI) and in vitro (quantitative in vitro receptor autoradiogaphy, cell counting and volume analysis) approaches.
